Chandra Sekhar Seelamantula

Biography

Chandra Sekhar Seelamantula is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree with Prof. K. K. Nair Gold Medal from Osmania University in 1999 and Ph.D. from IISc (Electrical Communication Engineering) in 2005.

After completing postdoctoral research at EPFL, Switzerland (2006–2009), he joined IISc as a faculty member in 2009 and now leads the Spectrum Lab. His research interests include signal processing, machine learning, Generative AI, computational imaging, and AI for Healthcare diagnostics.

He has served in various editorial roles including Senior Area Editor for IEEE Signal Processing Letters and IEEE Transactions on Image Processing. He received Prof. Priti Shankar Teaching Award (2013) from IISc, Digital Health Prize (2018) at National Bio-Entrepreneurship Competition, Outstanding Editorial Board Member award from IEEE Transactions on Image Processing in 2023, prestigious research grants, and is a co-recipient of several Qualcomm Innovation Fellowships together with PhD students. He served as the Chair of GATE-JAM office, IISc during 2022-2024 and was the Organizing Chair of GATE 2024.
