Biography

Nygel George Thomas received the Bachelor of Technology degree from Mar Athanasius College of Engineering, Kothamangalam. He received his Master of Technology degree from National Institute of Technology Rourkela in 2019. From 2019 to 2023, he worked at Dolcera ITES, Hyderabad, as a Patent Analyst and Principal Technical Consultant, where he specialized in domains related to image and video processing, video codecs, and multimedia systems. Since 2023, he has been pursuing the Ph.D. degree with the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. His research lies at the intersection of computer graphics, computer vision, and machine learning, with a focus on developing advanced radiance field representations for 3D scene reconstruction and rendering, including neural radiance fields (NeRFs) and 3D Gaussian Splatting. He is a recipient of the Qualcomm Innovation Fellowship India in both 2024 and 2025. —
